Seeking Out Project Managers

Posted by on Dec 21, 2009 in blog, Resources | 0 comments

We have a rocking team over at BSETC but the one area we’re lacking is in project management.  Right now, my team of 21 has an awesome set of skills that I keep using instead of letting any of them focus on pure project management but in 2010, that’s changing.  We’re going to have dedicated project managers who do zero implementation and just help us keep our clients on track and our team on track.

Why am I airing this publicly?  Well, I need project managers and figured that the best way to find them is to blog, Tweet and Facebook to find them.  The position details are all here so please review them all and do not contact me if you do not meet and acknowledge everything in this post.  Thanks! ;)

The Role

Our project managers will be responsible for maintaining work flow from our clients to our team.  When a client posts a new request, the project manager responsible for that client will swoop in and delegate out the task immediately.  Then, they will put in place the proper to-dos and milestones in Basecamp, the project management system we use.  Or, the project manager may receive a project spec from our Lead Project Manager, Trina.  In this case, the project manager will lay out the project, notify the team members who need to be involved and make sure it gets done.

The project manager will also be anticipatory.  They will look at something like a newsletter schedule or a radio show schedule and they will plot out milestones to keep the team members on task.  Then, they will check in with the team members daily to make sure that everything is going according to plan.  Each project manager will be responsible for a small number of clients.

The Details

This position requires someone who has knowledge of:

  • Basecamp
  • Managing a team and multiple clients
  • Understanding the majority of projects that a virtual assistance company would handle

  • Available daily for at least 1-2 hours per day, twice a day
  • Available for a weekly (or more frequent) call with our Lead Project Manager
  • Good with fine details and the big picture

We’re offering the following with our project manager roles:

  • Hourly rate of $22 to start
  • At least 5-10 hours per week to start
  • Amazing team environment with lots of support
  • Pre-existing structure of forms, checklists and to-do lists
