How Can I Afford Outsourcing? (Video)

Posted by on Jul 28, 2009 in Business Tips, Videos | 12 comments

A new video from Erin Blaskie… The drawing in this video is by far the best part ;)

It answers the question: “How can I afford outsourcing?” or “How can I justify paying someone else to do something that I can easily do?”

Or, watch it here on our YouTube channel.

    Erin,

How can I add this video to my blog site? I believe it captures why busy professionals should hire a virtual assistant and I would like to write a blog post about it. Thoughts?

    Erin,

I’ve been thinking about your video for a couple of days now and this is my dilemma :)

My niche market ~ pet sitters and they don’t get paid as much as coaches or experts in other fields. They don’t get paid $100/hr for sure! So I have great selling points for all the pet sitter out there, but I still haven’t come up with an “ingenious” way to sell them the $20-25/hour that I charge because in reality the get paid by the pet sitting service they do and is not that much:

    Dog walking average ~ $40/hour
    Overnight stay ~ $55/night

But they do spend so much time on admin things…newsletter, posting dog pics on their blog, writing stories about the pets, scheduling pet visits, payroll, invoicing, etc. Hiring a VA will save them so much time that they can def concentrate in other important aspects of their biz like getting more clients, better local marketing, working on joint ventures with other pet business, etc.

Ok, so now I think I’m rambling about this. I just want to hear your thoughts about this. Have you ever encounter a roadblock that entails people that you know need your services, but they might not get paid enough to hire you? Thoughts?

    Thanks Erin! You rock!

    Hi Joan!

This does happen where people need the service but can’t afford it. In those instances, I usually try to help them see where they might be able to create multiple streams of income thus being able to afford the outsourced services.

    Good evening Erin,

I had the pleasure of sitting through your lifestream presentation at Wordcamp Montreal. Good job!

    Excellent video, really.

I also like to think that, working an for hour where I do actual paid work is a nice way to buy myself some time. As long as I outsource at a lower hourly rate of course.

As for the drawing, you really should take a look at Jacques Fresco. He is, well….really awesome! And so is his drawing course based on sheer communication.

Yikes, upon re-read I notice the drawing course suggestion doesn’t sound so considerate… :(

What I meant is, since you have a drawing pad and did mention you just really wanted to draw, I figured you would enjoy this link!

    Now, that’s better! :)
