Gist: A Must-Have Tool for Social Media Users (@Gist)

If you’re anything like me, managing all of your contacts is overwhelming… to say the least.

Intro Gist – a CRM on steroids infused with a side cocktail of social media.

Gist imports your contacts from a number of places, imports your Twitter feeds, imports your Facebook activity, imports your e-mail and calendar and mashes it together in glorious goodness.  It ranks your people based on importance and relevance (based on amount of contact) and you can then organize your people with tags, etc.

It’s delicious.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention.  There’s also an iPhone app! Picture this: you’re standing at a conference and you see someone across the table and you KNOW you’ve seen them before.  A quick little search in Gist will bring up everything you want to know and more.  Including Google searches, latest blog posts, Tweets… and so much more.  This is stalking at its best.

See the screenshots I took below and also watch the video I did on my YouTube channel.

I’ve just started using Highrise to manage all my social contacts, but it’s not exactly mobile. I’ll be interested to try this out. Thanks.

The automation in this program though is incomparable to Highrise. It automates relevance and pulls in social media so it’s all in one place. There is ZERO manual work unless you want to also tag your contacts, etc. It only gets better if you add a bit of manual work but it’s super powerful on its own too.

    Hey Erin,

What, if any, of this information is available for our network to see? Is this like a facebook thing where you can share some information and not other stuff?

I can see this being a powerful tool but I’m not sure I want this information shared with my network.

Sorry, I guess I’m just trying to wrap my brain around it.

    Very cool.

It’s a tracking device for you and no one else. It allows you to watch what the people you really like are doing and ignore the “noise” so to speak.

I was wondering how quickly you would get into Gist. I would really be interested in seeing some of the features available in Gist, Threadsy, and Network Hippo come together in one piece of software.

Are you have the same issues with duplicate contacts I am?
